Vicky JordanRegistered Nurse
|
My name is Vicky Jordan and I am a Registered Nurse, International Board Certificated Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Tongue-tie Practitioner operating in Kent & Medway. I am a registered provider with the Care Quality Commission which allows me to undertake surgical procedures. (I am registered with the NMC, IBCLE and CQC as Victoria Jordan).
In 1998 I qualified as a nurse and for 15 years I worked within the NHS caring for acutely and critically unwell adults. Two years after the birth of my first daughter in 2008 I became a Breastfeeding Counsellor, following on from my own difficult breastfeeding experience.
In 2012 - 2013 I undertook a specialist course that would later enable me to take the IBCLC exam. In 2014, I undertook further specialist training at Southampton General Hospital for the release of tongue-tie (frenulotomy). This was under the supervision of Mr Mervyn Griffiths MCh FRCS & Jayne Threlfall RM IBCLC. This enabled me set up in private practice supporting mothers and babies with complex feeding problems, including those associated with tongue-tie. In April 2016 I was accredited as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
My frenulotomy (Tongue-tie release) services are for babies under 6 months, where feeding difficulties are experienced by either the baby or their mother. I will only proceed if the baby has received prophylactic Vitamin K and where there is no family history of bleeding or platelet disorders. There are some exceptional circumstances where I am unable to offer this service for example oral anomalies and some medical conditions. Do feel free to contact me to check before booking.
I am a member of Lactation Consultants of Great Britain and a Committee Member of The Association of Tongue-tie Practitioners (ATP). I have full Medical Indemnity and Public Liability insurance with Hiscox.
I am a mother and home educate my two children. I love creating things and enjoy learning new craft activities.

"At a time when services were inaccessible due to the pandemic, Vicky was the lifeline that was truly valuable. Though we contacted her for tongue-tie division service, she also offered her expertise as an IBCLC and we would not have progressed as much as we did without her. Aside from clinical expertise, Vicky also provided a listening ear, and allowed mum a space to talk through her thoughts and feelings, which helped lead to making informed decisions. We truly felt cared about! Thank you Vicky!!"
